I think their idea is for you to either ignore the original charge and then the refund or use splits here when it's a partial refund. I agree though it would be nice if it was a little smoother for refunds.

Agreed! For my specific situation I often will pay for something and people will venmo me if I cover them. Would be great to be able to associate their venmo reimbursement with the credit card charge.
