example: If i pay my rent on the 31st instead of the 1st i should be able to move the transaction to the month that it was actually for

Hi Hayden, thanks for asking about that and I have some good news here for you! That's already a feature that we support 
You can update the date on a transaction by heading over to the transaction tab, selecting the transaction in question, tapping on the date on the top of the screen, and then a calendar will pop up. From there, you can change the date to be from the 31st to the 1st.
