The idea of budgeting is to plan ahead, would also like the ability to add items that may not be clearly identified in linked transactions.

Yes. In addition you can’t see your budget across the year. Let’s say you spend $300 a year on a certain bill or vacationing. You’re not gonna spend $5,000 every month, but you will once a year potentially.

One feature that would make this app even more powerful would be advanced future budget planning. Being able to project bills, savings goals, debt payoff, subscriptions, annual expenses, and future income changes months or even years ahead would help users make smarter long-term financial decisions instead of only reacting month-to-month. It would turn budgeting into true financial planning and give people a clearer picture of where they’re headed financially.

There should be a flexible and static budget, The flexible rolls over month to month for expenses that happen less frequently. Like Monarch money has....

I would like to set up my next months budget before the month begins.

Payday view shows only Bills that hit the account your paycheck is deposited.
2 impacts from this:
- UNDER-projects expected recurring spend:
We need to be able to anticipate all recurring charges including bills, subscriptions, annual or quarterly fees, and credit card payments.
- Does not meet needs of multiple bank accounts:
In my case, my husband and my paychecks hit 2 different accounts which means I’m trying to balance and reconcile 2 accounts. Moving to a per account view would solve for this!
And then we’re half-way to projecting balances based on recurring charges!
I'd like to be able to project account balances 30, 60 or 90 days out based on expected recurring payments by account. It could also inspire people to spend within expected costs as they see the future benefits of controlling spending today.
That feature ideally should allow manual entry of a one time expected future cost and a recurring expected future cost so we can project impact of future commitments.

Same thing as for accruing lumpy expenses - e.g. insurance every 6 months

Excellent idea. I struggle with the same. I am not sure if this is similar to what I was thinking: in the recurring tab, we only see 2 weeks of expenses ahead, but if for the same reason (extra expense, travel, etc) that I know is coming in the next 30/60/90 days, I can’t see it. Would be nice to see future forecasted expenses as well to give more visibility.

I am really liking Rocket Money and strongly considering switching from Everydollar, but I want to be able to plan my next months budget before the first.
